Quick Answer

Elite uses UV light inspection to locate every contaminated spot — including old stains invisible to the naked eye — then applies professional-grade enzyme solutions that break down uric acid crystals permanently. Unlike store-bought products that mask odors temporarily, our treatment eliminates the odor source so it never returns, even in high humidity.

If you have pets, accidents happen — and when urine, vomit, or feces reach your carpet, the damage goes deeper than what you can see on the surface. Pet urine soaks through carpet fibers, saturates the carpet pad, and can even reach the subfloor. As it dries, uric acid forms microscopic crystals that reactivate with moisture and humidity, releasing that unmistakable ammonia smell over and over again. This is why DIY cleaners and store-bought enzyme sprays rarely solve the problem completely.

At Elite Carpet Cleaning, we treat pet contamination as a multi-layer problem that requires a multi-layer solution. Our IICRC-certified technicians use professional UV light inspection to map every affected area — including old stains that are no longer visible but still producing odor. We then apply commercial-grade enzyme solutions that penetrate through the carpet, into the pad, and down to the subfloor to break down uric acid crystals at the molecular level. Combined with our truck-mounted hot water extraction, we flush out the contamination completely rather than just treating the surface.

Whether you have one problem spot from a new puppy or years of accumulated accidents from multiple pets, we have the equipment, chemistry, and 40 years of combined experience to restore your carpets and eliminate odors permanently. We also help landlords and property managers deal with pet damage from previous tenants — one of the most common calls we get across the Permian Basin.

How our pet stain & odor treatment process works

A clear, step-by-step approach — no mystery, no upsell ambush.

1

UV Light Inspection & Mapping

We darken the room and use professional-grade UV (black light) to locate every pet stain — including old, dried stains invisible to the naked eye. Each contaminated area is marked and measured so nothing is missed. This step often reveals 3 to 5 times more staining than the homeowner knew about.

2

Contamination Assessment

We determine the severity of each stain — surface-level, pad-saturated, or subfloor-penetrated. This dictates the treatment approach. Light surface stains need topical enzyme treatment, while deep saturation requires sub-surface flooding. We give you an honest assessment before any work begins.

3

Enzyme Pre-Treatment Application

Professional-grade enzyme solution is applied generously to each contaminated area. For surface stains, the solution is sprayed and worked into the fibers. For deep saturation, we flood the area with enzyme solution so it soaks through the carpet and into the pad — reaching the same depth as the original contamination.

4

Dwell Time & Enzyme Activation

The enzyme solution needs time to work. We allow 30 to 60 minutes of dwell time for the enzymes to break down uric acid crystals, proteins, and bacteria. During this period, the enzymes are actively consuming the organic matter that causes both stains and odors.

5

Truck-Mounted Hot Water Extraction

Our truck-mounted system flushes the treated areas with heated water at high pressure, extracting the broken-down contaminants, enzyme solution, and dissolved uric acid from the carpet and pad. This step physically removes the contamination rather than leaving it to dry in place like store-bought sprays do.

6

Odor Neutralizer & Final Inspection

A professional odor neutralizer is applied as a final layer. We then re-inspect with the UV light to confirm all contaminated areas have been fully treated. We walk you through the results and provide aftercare instructions to prevent future accidents from becoming permanent problems.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about our pet stain & odor treatment service.

Pet urine contains uric acid, which forms crystals as it dries. These crystals are not water-soluble, so regular cleaning and most store-bought products only remove the surface-level liquid — the crystals remain embedded in the carpet pad and subfloor. When humidity rises or moisture is reintroduced, those crystals reactivate and release ammonia odor. Professional enzyme treatments are the only way to break down uric acid crystals permanently.
